Hansie Botha SC completed his BCom LLB degree in 1976 at the Stellenbosch University.

Thereafter, Hansie was a prosecutor in Bellville Magistrates Court and in 1979 he started the position of State Advocate, stationed in the Palace of Justice, Pretoria.

After being called to the Bar, Hansie completed his pupillage in 1979 and started full time practice at the Cape Bar. 

This was the beginning of an extensive legal background where Hansie has been practicing full time in Courts and Tribunals across the country.

Hansie first acted as Judge in 1999, and thereafter when being called to do so.
